How To Boot From USB Flash Drive | PC FAQs
There must be some people out there searching the Internet for this kinds of things.
You could have heard of booting from the CD, just like inserting the Win XP or Vista disc for installation. With the flash drive getting popular, these days, PCs can boot into a nice Linux environment with just using a flash drive, still allowing you to surf the Internet and do some decent work.
Now that people are done with the 1.44" floppy disk and using USB thumb/flash drive. It can really be helpful to have a USB boot to repair your computer when your operating system corrupts, your CD-ROM is on the verge of failing, or your CD-ROM is not IDE but SATA so there is no way for any Boot CD to work.
There is this wonderful website that explains "How to create a bootable USB Memory Key" I think you should download the files provided and keep them safe some where reliable as I don't think this is quite legal to provide download links this manner.
So, what next? There is not point to have a bootable USB that does nothing. This is where you will need to have other software to help you to repair and recover. You don't need to have lots of knowledge, just some search the Internet. Here's a link to Hiren's BootCD. Download this bootCD in ISO format and burn it onto a CD by following the instructions found here.
